Mali and Burkina Faso, two neighboring countries in the heart of the Sahel, among the most authentic regions of West Africa, with their boundless landscapes, magical cliffs, green cane plantations sugar, sacred lakes inhabited by hippos and small clay animist villages, where time seems to stand still.
The burgundy earth envelops everything, it is the first thing that strikes as soon as you arrive in Africa. It is from this land that clay has been obtained for centuries to build houses, mosques, sacred monuments, animist fetishes and mausoleums. With this land, the queen of the Sahel mosques was built, the largest in the world entirely of clay, which immediately appears in its grandeur, as soon as you arrive in Djenné. With this land they built their own houses and carved barns, the magical Dogon people and before them, that of the Tellems, climbing into the ravines of the crag, a mystical place where everything seems to have a supernatural strength. Always with this land they built and continue to build their own small mud castles in Burkina Faso, the people of the Lobi and Kassena (Gourounsi). Small squared fortresses, patron fetishes, altars and sacred buildings, traditional houses shaped as if they were terracotta objects, decorated and painted as if they were a work of art. Everything is still worked with the earth, because this is the land of the ancestors and if not, the spirits would probably find shelter elsewhere, they would leave, never to return.
