In Chad, in the middle of the desert, rises the highest mountain range in the Sahara, Tibesti. One of the most unknown and surprising faces of the largest desert in the world, which is not only sand, but contains an infinite number of treasures, all to be discovered.
A great myth of the Saharan expeditions, Tibesti is a true miracle that nature has shaped over the course of geological ages. Of volcanic origin, its peaks, which reach 3000 meters above sea level, are formed by lava flows, basaltic sediments and sandstone eroded by atmospheric agents and shaped in canyons, gorges and spires from surreal forms. But this corner of Sahara also holds other surprises, including lush oases, volcanic craters, gigantic ergs and steep slopes dotted with palm groves and small villages with circular huts where the populations Tebu have resided for centuries, the only custodians of the secrets of these mountains. An exciting itinerary enriched by a visit to the spectacular environment of Lake Ounianga Kebir, an earthly paradise surrounded by sands.
