Algeria is the largest African country on the continent.
The north is served by an excellent road and motorway network and public transport services. To reach the centre and the south of the country by land, the arterial roads gradually thin out until only two main roads reach the cities of Tamanrasset and Djanet in the south. Connections between the cities and the main towns in the south are reduced to a few asphalt roads, albeit in very good condition, and in most cases to dirt tracks.
To date, the best, most practical and safest way to reach the south is by air.
All major cities in the north are connected to those in the centre and south by daily flights, operated by the two Algerian airlines:
Air Algerie
Tassili Airlines
The fares offered by both are quite cheap. Air Algerie tickets can be easily purchased online at the company’s website https://airalgerie.dz/
