Pack a suitcase is a matter of common sense and the personal needs of the traveller.
The first tip is to bring a soft sports bag, or if you really don’t want to do without a hard suitcase with wheels, then it is important that its dimensions are small.
To get a rough idea of the weight and volume of things to carry, always think of a piece of luggage that you would be able to carry yourself.
Regarding ‘what to bring’, clothes should definitely be fresh and light all year round, and shoes comfortable, especially for walks in rural areas. In northern regions, a sweatshirt to protect against a slight difference in temperature between day and night may be useful in December and January. In the south in summer and autumn, a waterproof rain jacket to protect against sudden downpours may be useful.
Here is a list of accessories that you must not forget:
- hat
- sunglasses
- protective and emollient sun cream and cocoa butter
- a lightweight mackintosh for the rainy season
- a sweatshirt for the winter months in the north
- a swimming suit and slippers
- a small pocket torch
- camera and cases needed to protect the equipment from dust and sand
- a padlock for your luggage (it is always a good idea to have one, even though travel insurance includes luggage insurance during air travel and on our suggested itineraries or excursions, your luggage is always secured)
- cleansing wipes and hydroalcoholic gel
- mosquito repellent
- towels and bed linen (immaculate linen is not always available in hotels in rural areas)
- contact lenses and the necessary fluids (these are practically unobtainable, although it is still preferable to use spectacles, especially during the dry, very dusty season)
- small travel pharmacy (in fact, pharmacies are very well stocked with all the basic active ingredients, such as antibiotics, analgesics, contraceptives, antipyretics, disinfectants and medicines for treating tropical diseases)
(no need for an adapter, sockets are compatible with Italian ones)
