Guinea

As rich in history, tradition and natural paradise as it is unknown to most travellers, Guinea has remained one of the most authentic and unspoilt destinations on the continent, a precious green lung, a generator of life that springs from its heights and is dispensed by the long course of West Africa’s most important rivers.

But there is not only nature. Guinea is also the cradle of ancient sub-Saharan kingdoms, the land of Malinké warriors and hunters, the historic homeland of Koranic Peuhl theocracies and the cradle of ancient animist traditions, a treasure trove of ancestral secrets hidden in the luxuriant sacred forests, inhabited by the spirits of the ancestors, custodians of tribal masks and magical liana bridges.

As heavenly as they are mysterious, it is not surprising that Stevenson’s famous novel “Treasure Island” was inspired by these lands.
