In North Africa there is an extraordinary archaeological heritage that testifies to the magnificence of the Roman Empire in its heyday, and the remains preserved in Tunisia and Algeria offer lovers of ancient history the opportunity to follow an itinerary of great interest and suggestion.
A journey to discover beautifully preserved archaeological sites, such as, in Tunisia, the Roman cities of Sbeitla and Dougga, 25 hectares of temples, private homes, theaters and spas, or the fascinating Bulla Regia, with its surprising underground houses, decorated with mosaics inspired by sea gods, up to the spectacular El Jem amphitheater, built in 230 AD, on the model of the Colosseum. In Algerian territory, obligatory stops in Timgad, founded by Emperor Trajan in 100 AD, Lambesi, ancient home of the Legio III Augusta, Djemila, in the Atlas Mountains and, on the coast, Tipaza and Caesarea, with their splendid imperial villas lapped by the waters of the Mediterranean.
