It’s a journey through the most fascinating and colorful ceremonies and rites of Benin, Togo and Ghana, once known as the ‘Slave Coast’ and ‘Gold Coast’. Three countries in which, despite the progress of modern life, the population remains viscerally linked to cults and traditions that have been perpetuated unchanged for centuries.
From the swirling dances of the zangbeto and egungun voodoo spirits, in front of which we are forced to abandon any Western logic, to the fire ceremony of the Tem warriors, in which the secret line between reality and magic cannot be revealed to us. And again, the apotheosis of traditional ceremonies, represented by the Akwasidae of the Ashanti, which renews every 42 days the veneration of the people towards one of the most powerful kings of the Gulf of Guinean. A colorful and luxurious party, in a rhythmic rush of drums and unbridled dances, among colorful fabrics, sacred umbrellas and gold jewels, that will make us sink into a timeless dimension in which the great Ashanti kingdom and culture revive in the ancient prestige.
