Lying on the western shores of Central Africa, Equatorial Guinea consists of a small continental part, sandwiched between Cameroon and Gabon, and numerous islands, including Bioko, where the capital Malabo is located, and Corisco, a wild tropical paradise.
The only country on the continent where Spanish is the official language, Equatorial Guinea is one of the least visited destinations in the world, but wrongly so, as it is characterised by an incredible variety of landscapes and nature. The islands are as idyllic as one can expect from stretches of wild beaches, some of white sand fringed with palm trees and others with black volcanic sand. The paradisiacal Arena Blanca of Bioko and that of Corisco are certainly among the most unspoilt and isolated. The possibilities for nature trails are also manifold, from trekking in Ureka to Lake Biao and the Pico Basile in Bioko. Equatorial Guinea is a well-kept naturalistic mystery, worth visiting now!
