Northern Ethiopia is a land of fairy tales and legends, of holy knights and mythical queens, untold secrets and treasures hidden in the rocks. The blurred boundaries between myth, history and reality fascinate travellers and accompany them on an intriguing journey that winds its way through the most evocative localities of the Abyssinian plateau, along scenic roads and green valleys dotted with villages and bustling markets.
A 12-day itinerary in the cradle of Coptic religiosity, a granite faith that has permeated the lives of the peoples of the North for two millennia. An orthodoxy that has taken root over the centuries within the hemmed walls of Gondar’s fortresses, resisting external threats and perpetuating itself in the evocative rock churches of the small, ancient and perfectly preserved world of Lalibela and the Tigray region. These are some of the most fascinating places in Africa, and among the rushing waterfalls, impervious peaks, imperial cities with majestic palaces, richly decorated monasteries, austere castles and ancient manuscripts, they hold priceless treasures.

The imperial city of Gondar, with its castle, and the meeting with the children of the orphanage Yenege Tesfa.
Day 05 :
Gondar/Simien NP/Axum
Transfer along the Simien park, home of the Gelada baboons.
Day 06 :
Axum
The imposing obelisks of Axum, the Ark of the Covenant, the baths of the Queen of Sheba.
Day 07 :
Axum/Churches of Tigray/Hawzane
The rock churches of Tigray, impressive examples of architecture and faith.
Day 08 :
Hawzane/Churches of Tigray/Mekele
The churches of the Gheralta and the university town of Mekele.
Day 09 :
Mekele/Lalibela
The Amhara region with its tukuls, typical two-storey houses.
Day 10 :
Lalibela
The rock churches of Lalibela, a UNESCO world heritage site.
Day 11 :
Lalibela/Flight/Addis Ababa
The chaotic Merkato and tasting of Ethiopian national dishes, accompanied by injera.
