A journey to discover a multi-faceted country, imbued with the most authentic spirituality that takes shape in a multiplicity of ancestral rites and initiatory dances accompanied by the hypnotic rhythm and pressing traditional instruments.
From the arid savannas of the north, to the lush forests of the center, to the paradisiacal beaches of the Atlantic coast, this great nation offers travelers its many faces, reflected in a variety of ethnographic, morphological and landscape that is unparalleled in all of West Africa.
In an itinerary that winds between modernity and tradition, we will be surprised by the vibrant energy of Abidjan, a lively and welcoming cosmopolitan metropolis, and we will admire the classic architecture of Yamoussoukro, with its imposing basilica. We will go into the heart of the savannah, the vast cocoa plantations and markets full of sellers and goods from every corner of the country. In the villages, we will capture the secrets of skilled artisans, weavers, blacksmiths and smiths, who we will watch at work, intent on their admirable handicrafts.
We will witness the acrobatic dances of the panther men at the Senoufo, the evolution of the masks on stilts among the Dan, and walk along liana bridges suspended over the river, until we reach the edge of the sacred forests, where the secrets of the ancestral spirits are guarded and the divinities are manifested through the masks, intermediaries between the tangible and the occult, and absolute protagonists of Ivorian spirituality.
Finally, we will move towards the coast, concluding our journey in the colonial town of Grand Bassam, where we will have the privilege of taking part in the annual Abissa celebrations, a great festival in which the entire N’zima community gathers to bear witness to their cohesion and to renew their pact of loyalty to the reigning king.
