A fascinating itinerary that touches on the two rocky “pearls” of Mauritania, the Adrar and Tagant massifs, the only mountain ridges in a country where the sands of the Sahara dominate. A circuit through an area of striking morphological variety, which is also the guardian of the most authentic traditions of nomadic culture.
Rugged landscapes of cliffs eroded by time and weather, canyons and valleys designed around dried-up oued, small seasonal bodies of water, and then sands as far as the eye can see, dunes, miraculous hot springs, lakes populated by caimans and stony ground that seems endless but then opens out onto lush palm groves. To crown the exciting experience offered by these spectacular views, the welcome and friendliness of the Mauri nomads we meet along the way, and the certainty that even in the most incredible desolation, there will always be someone willing to offer us a glass of fragrant mint tea.

From the golden dunes to the rocky conformations of the Tivoujar pass.
Day 4 :
Atar/Amogjar/Chinguetti
The rock paintings of Agrour and the libraries of Chinguetti.
Day 5 :
Chinguetti/Ouadane/Chinguetti
The oasis of Tanochert and the caravan city of Ouadane.
Day 6 :
Chinguetti/Zarga/Ain Safra
Mount Zarga, from the top of which you can admire the “sea of sand” of Erg Ouarane.
Day 7 :
Ain Safra/Taoujavet
Entry into Tagant, land of nomadism.
Day 8 :
Taoujavet/Rachid/Tidjikja
The charming Rachid, perched on top of a cliff, and the huge palm grove of Tidjikja.
Day 9 :
Tidjikja/Nbeika/Matmata/Echeft
The Nile crocodiles in the natural pools of Matmata.
Day 10 :
Echetef/Moudjéria/Aleg/Ajoueir
The colonial town of Moudjéria and the dunes of Ajoueir.
Day 11 :
Ajoueir/Boutilimit/Nouakchott
The craftsmen of Boutilimit and the port of Nouakchott with its bustle of multicoloured canoes.
