An open-air theatre that comes alive every evening by an impressive group of artists, musicians, charmers, cooks and jugglers, the Djemaa el-Fna square is the beating heart of Marrakech. An extraordinary cultural space declared by UNESCO as a “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity”. From here, a maze of lively alleys radiates that lead to other symbolic places of the city, such as Ali Ben Youssef’s wonderful Medersa, which was the most important center of Islamic culture in Africa of the North, or the Kutubiyya Mosque, with its very ancient minaret.
