Probably not everyone knows that the town of Saint Louis, the historic capital of French Sudan and a fascinating testimony to colonial architecture, is also home to the continent’s most renowned jazz music event.
Fans of this musical genre know perfectly well that this is an event not to be missed, in which the best African musicians and international guests of the calibre of Paolo Fresu, Gilberto Gil, Herbie Hanckok and Richard Galliano have participated in past editions. The beautiful backdrop of the decadent pastel-coloured colonial buildings, with their old wooden galleries, on the small island of Saint Louis, surrounded by the banks of the Senegal River and the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, and reached by land from the horizontal Eiffel Tower, the revolving iron bridge designed at the beginning of the last century by Goustav Eiffel. On this special departure, you will also participate in the Dakar Bienniale, ‘Dak’Art’.

Pink Lake/Lompoul/Saint Louis (Jazz Festival)
The pink waters of Lake Retba, final stage of the Paris-Dakar rally, the dunes of the Lompoul desert and the concerts of the Saint Louis Jazz Festival.
Day 3 :
Saint-Louis/Djoudj/Saint Louis (Jazz Festival)
The bird park of Djoudj and the colonial town of Saint Louis, with its picturesque fishing quarter, and the events and concerts of the Jazz Festival.
Day 4 :
Saint Louis/Touba/Kaolack
The fine Mourid mosque in Touba and the colourful Kaolack market.
Day 5 :
Kaolack/Simal/Ndangane
The Siné-Saloum delta, pirogueing through the mangroves learning the art of artisanal fishing.
Day 6 :
Ndangane/Joal Fadiouth/Dakar (Dak’Art Bienniale)
The shell island of Fadiouth and the liveliness of the capital.
Day 7 :
Dakar/Gorée Island/Dakar (Dak’Art Bienniale)
The pastel-coloured colonial buildings and the slave house on Gorée Island.
Day 8 :
Dakar (Dak’Art Biennial)/Bandia/Somone
The events of the Dak’Art Bienniale and a safari in Bandia Park.
Day 9 :
Somone
The beautiful beach of Somone, between the lagoon and the sea.
Day 10 :
Dakar (DSS)/Return Flight
